My FIVE album has a theme centered around change. I sort of happened upon this theme while I was selecting photos to print and take with me to Arizona. I needed 5 horizontal photos which had a little room on the left side to be able to place the binding without taking away from the subject of the photo. This sent me on a fun little scavenger hunt through my photos. I started by creating a folder and putting any image that I thought I might like to use in this folder and then decided to narrow them down one I had a chance to see all of my options.
For me, this album was not going to be all about one event, or person. The photos did not have to "go together." I was trying to focus on telling my story, as Ali would typically inspire us to do. I found by looking at my photos, that they all seemed to be about a time in our lives when things were changing. It was after I selected my 5 photos, that I realized that most of my pictures were from behind the subject, an no one was looking in the camera in any picture! This was not planned, it was simply my photography voice speaking in my pictures and I realized that most of these photos were very reflective to me and that was perfect for this project which includes lots of telling.
So, my FIVE things all ended up being a concept, not people or things, a concept of change. This album gave me the perfect opportunity to tell my story of how important change is in our lives. I love that it also tells stories and showcases photos of moments in my life that I would not likely tell in my typical methods of documenting like regular scrapbook pages or Project Life.
If you are looking to be inspired to tell your story of FIVE things, you might be interested in this self paced class. My FIVE things album is one of my favorite projects I've completed in the past few years!
I threw some handwritten quotes about change on the back...
